BEIS announce Gemserv as Delivery Partner of the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme Demonstrator: providing funding for performance improvements in existing heat networks.
Gemserv is delighted to announce their role as Delivery Partner for the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) Demonstrator, supported by our technical partner Ramboll. Our teams bring significant heat network expertise and possess a unique combination of skills and experience in the delivery and administration of government programmes, implementing policy intervention for heat networks, and practically optimising existing heat networks across the UK and internationally.
The HNES sits within the Government’s Heat Network Transformation Programme, a matrix of support and policy frameworks which includes the Heat Network Delivery Unit, Heat Network Investment Project, Green Heat Networks Fund and heat zoning. It will support performance uplifts to existing heat network or communal heating projects to drive short-term and sustained efficiency savings in fuel consumption and carbon emissions, and address areas of customer detriment. Heat Networks are an essential component of clean and cost-effective decarbonisation and have the potential to deliver around a fifth of low carbon heat demand by 2050. However, it is essential that they must operate as efficiently as possible to secure the best outcome for consumers and society. The HNES will play an important part in achieving this.
The scheme will seek to deploy £3.8m towards capital funding, and £0.375m of revenue (development) funding. For more information, please visit the UK Government website here.
